I really believe this place is a hidden gem. It's tucked back into Trinity Groves facing Beckley. I had been attempting to get here ever since I saw a video about it on YouTube, but was only ever nearby on days they were closed. We went on a Wednesday a couple of weeks ago, and had a lovely experience. The ambiance is great- it feels like you're living in a cartoon-very 2D and super unusual. The service was amazing (we were the only customers at the time). Our server, Fish, was fantastic. He was very friendly, knowledgeable, and informative about the menu and gave really good recommendations. He let us know how they typically stagger dishes out in order to give the customer the best opportunity to eat each dish when it is at its freshest. Ultimately, we decided upon the poke nachos, lobster gyoza, and miso soup to start. The poke came out pretty quickly-savory and tangy fresh ahi tuna on top of fried wonton crisps. The sauces and toppings added layers of flavor, and my son and I loved them. The miso soup was tasty, with a deep miso flavor and the nori had a good chew. The lobster gyoza took a little longer to come out, but were so pretty and unique. They finish them by adding some cornstarch around the edges so that it crisps up into almost a chip. The ginger and truffle gyoza sauce was a delicious blend of earthiness from the truffle and brightness from the ginger, and was very savory. The temaki was our next course-they are not hand rolled in a traditional sense, but are served like a taco, with the nori serving as the taco "shell." We ordered the spicy tuna, yellowtail, scallop, salmon, and softshell crab. Each of them was fantastic. All of the seafood tasted extremely fresh. Of those, I think the scallop and salmon were the best. The combination of textures and toppings provided an interesting bite each time. The nori had a perfect chewiness, and the tender fish and crunchy accoutrements paired beautifully with the sauces each temaki was dressed with. I was already full at this time, but my son ordered a miso ramen for his entree. The noodles had a great chew, and the broth was deep and flavorful. It was very reminiscent of ramen I had in Japan. We finished with a tofu crème brûlée, which is flavored with matcha and white chocolate, and was silky smooth. Overall, I highly recommend this place. They also have happy hour specials on some temaki and drinks. I honestly have nothing bad to say about it. I look forward to going back!

Been wanting to try this place. The boyfriend got dinner tickets for nye that ended up being cancelled. Honestly, it was nice that it was refunded and also 25% if we decide to come eat OR can go to Lexy and our tickets would be comp. We came in for dinner on nye and enjoyed it. I thought the place was good but its a bit pricey. Would definitely come back during happy hour to try more for cheaper price. The place is VERY different and bold. It is in 3D! I have never seen a place like this ever and its really cool. It was pretty dead when we came in, probably bc it was nye :P

Very cool 2D concept. Woah, calm down Yelp. Why are so many people hating on this place? I walked in here on a Friday with no reservation and the restaurant was empty! Yelp is doing y'all dirty. Restaurant offers valet service for $10. There was seating outside and inside. The restaurant has a big open window that looks outside. Very cute 2D concept with a Parisian feel. Love all the details by the artist of the Dallas skyline and throughout. Slight pop of color with a flower added to the table. Decent size sushi bar with bar seating where you can see the sushi chefs at work. I'm big on minimal design and love this look. Came here during happy hour from 4:30-6:30PM. We ordered the tuna poke, chicken karage, miso, and tonkatsu ramen. For the temakis, we ordered the California, salmon, shrimp tempura, and yellowtail. I also ordered the Mai Temaki Tai drink. The temakis were served on 2D plates which I thought was cool. They were on the smaller size. Well at least I came during happy hour but it probably would have been too much if I was to pay full prices. I was really surprised how much everything added up which did sting a little bit, but I thought it was worth coming here and part of the experience. That's what you pay for. Everything tasted great. My drink was yummy. The service was great. I would bring my friends here so they could check it out. As we were picking up our car, the valet driver held the passenger door for me until I was done buckling my child which took a good 5 min. I thought that was nice.

I don't think any of the negative reviews are deserved. The decor is fabulous, service was friendly and prompt and all of the dishes we tried were delicious. Yes, it is definitely pricey, those little dishes add up fast, but I feel like everything in Dallas is crazy expensive these days. The edamame was charred and salted, so good! Loved all the temaki rolls, loved the gyoza and loved the poke nachos. If we lived closer, we'd return more often.
